Stepping outside your comfort zone.

One Day Exposures

Sometimes it's the more uncomfortable things that make us think different.

It makes us think twice about the way we feel, and the way we approach others. It makes us more considerate, and our actions more considered.

What happens during a one-day exposure?

During a one-day exposure, or ODE, participants from LKC Medicine will spend a full work-day at SAAC, interacting with clients and their coaches. They might spend time helping clients maneuver obstacles, or train their hand-eye coordination and motor skills.

And as they do so, they'll begin to truly understand what autism is, its incredible diversity, and why we care so much in serving those with autism. It might not be the most comfortable thing to do, but it's a truly enlightening experience that most of us won't forget.

Here are what some of us had to say.

"Autism is not a disease, it is something like a social disability that makes it hard to interact with others. It just means we have to be more understanding towards people with autism."

Pandiyan, Class of 2021

"The One Day Exposure (ODE) to Autism made me understand that people with autism are capable in different ways, and perceive the world differently as well."

Rachel Teo, Class of 2020

ODE is no longer available, we will update this page when we manage to find similar opportunities!
