A new goal: enriching lives.

We are Project ANGEL@LKC, and our mission is to

make a difference to people with moderate to severe autism.

To achieve this, we organize our efforts around three goals:

to spread autism awareness, understanding and acceptance, especially within NTU

1

to support fundraising efforts for organisations such as St. Andrew's Autism Centre (SAAC)

2

to allow students at LKCMedicine to seek a broader and more personal understanding of autism

3

We believe in building

a school, a country and a world that

understands and accepts

autism, and

cares for

the courageous ones who live with it everyday.

Autism affects about 1 in a 100 of us.

That means in Singapore, about 50,000 of us live with autism. People with autism are all around you; they may be the person you sit next to on the train, your classmate, or your closest friend, or your sibling. Given this, it really is astonishing to learn how many of us are unaware of and misunderstand autism – what is truly is – and the people and families who live with it.

Worse of all, individuals with autism face the stigma of autism every day. Whether it be as ‘mild’ as keeping an arm’s length away from someone (whom you think) has autism, or as devastating as being bullied on by peers or siblings, those are not experiences any person would want to go through, let alone those with autism.

We at Project ANGEL@LKC believe in changing this reality, not just for the betterment of those with autism, but for the betterment of society – don’t we want to live in one that is more mature, more aware and more caring?

This vision empowers us to pursue our goals, and think of ways to really improve the lives of those with autism.

We are a team of twelve passionate students from the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine) at Nanyang Technological University (Singapore), collaborating closely with St. Andrew’s Autism Centre (SAAC) to engage students, clients and communities in our efforts.

Project ANGEL@LKC is a local community involvement project (CiP) designated under LKCMedicine. St. Andrew’s Autism Centre is a non-profit, integrated centre for the education, training and care of persons with autism and their families. Since we began in 2016, we at Project ANGEL@LKC have been hard at work reaching out to clients, students and faculty, spreading the message of love without condition.

We hope that you can help make a difference in the lives of people with autism by joining our events, or by simply understanding autism better and dispelling negative stereotypes, so as to make society a better place for them.
